It also gives you a fantastic vehicle for fresh veggies. It is nutritious, delicious and perfect for any type of event whether it be a romantic Saturday night dinner or a quick weekday easy meal.
How to Make Sesame Chicken with Broccoli
Here’s how to make this delicious dish in no time!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breast — cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp white pepper, to taste
- MINCED FRESH GARLIC 1-2 teasps
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 + 1 teaspoon cooking oil of choice, divided
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sambal oelek, try to taste
- 2 Tablespoons sesame oil
- 1/2 cup julienne cut carrots
- 1/2 cup sliced shallots
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
- Sesame seeds to sprinkle over
Directions:
- Then, add the chicken pieces to a mixing bowl. Season with cornstarch, salt & white pepper. Add the chicken, mix well and remain it aside.
- In a small nonstick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon cooking oil over medium heat. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until aromatic (about 1 minute)
- Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sambal oelek and sesame oil. Once boiled, cook for about 1 minute. Take it off the heat and let aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or a large nonstick skillet set over medium-high heat until hot. Carefully add the chicken. Stir and cook until golden brown on all sides, 8 to 10 minutes. (Warning, chicken will splooge.)
- Remove chicken from skillet with slotted spoon. The remaining 2 tbsp of cooking oil Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, then add in the carrots and shallots (onion) along with broccoli.
- Add the sauce you've prepared and let veggies cook to desired texture, around 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1tablesoy sauce in a small bowl. Then pour this back into the skillet and quickly stir to combine evenly. Add chicken back to skillet and cook stirring occasionally until everything is heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Take it out with the heat, sprinkle white sesame seeds and serve hot.
