Oh, and you get to eat ravioli in a completely different way!

Why Make This Recipe

Ravioli Lasagna = easy peasy lemon squeezy — not even kidding. This recipe is excellent for quick weeknights or lazy weekends. You just layer everything up and put it in the oven to do its thing. Your family will love all of the flavors, and you are going to especially love how easy it is!

How to Make Ravioli Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 pound mild pork sausage
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 2 (24-ounce) jars marinara sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 24-ounce package cheese ravioli (refrigerated or frozen)
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Ingredients: For the pizza crust 2 to 21/2 cups shredded Mozzarella (or Provolone) cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Directions

  1. First things first, preheat you oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Brown sausage in a medium skillet over medium heat, breaking up into small pieces. This step is very important in order to prevent the dough from drying out on any surface, and stick especially when you transfer it whilst still flexible (a little vegetable oil should stop it sticking).
  3. After the sausage is browned, mix in salt, pepper and marinara sauce. Simmer 3 to 5 minutes on low. Taste and adjust with optional ¼ teaspoon of salt.
  4. Put 1/3 of the meat sauce in a layer on the bottom in this pan.
  5. In a 9×13 inch dish, layer with half of the ravioli on top of the sauce.
  6. Layer ravioli on top of 1/3 the Ricotta. It can seem scant but trust me they will all melt together very nicely!
  7. One layer of mashed potato topped with 1/3 Mozzarella, sprinkled.
  8. Repeat the bottom layer, finishing with one cup of shredded cheese.
  9. Close with a lid or cover it tight with an aluminum foil and put to bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let it rest a little and serve warm. Garnish with fresh chopped basil and a little Parmesan cheese (optional, but you really should do it.

How to Serve Ravioli Lasagna

Eat our Ravioli Lasagna piping hot or bubbly out of the oven. This stands alone well or with a basic salad and some garlic bread. Top with fresh herbs if you wish for color and extra flavor!

How to Store Ravioli Lasagna

Any leftovers can be kept in the fridge, covered (I put mine into an airtight container if I have any quantities left that will fit). Should last at least 3-4 days. The soup can also be easily frozen in individual servings so you have a ready meal when life gets hectic. Defrost in fridge overnight before reheating.

Tips to Make Ravioli Lasagna

  • To heat things up a little, sprinkle some red pepper flakes along with the other spices into your meat sauce.
  • You can use any Ravioli that you desire — Spinach or mushroom, or even butternut squash is perfect.
  • Give it 10 minutes to set then serve your lasagna.

Variation

And if you want to make it lighter, replace the pork sausage by chicken or turkey. Between the layers, you could also throw some veggies like spinach or mushrooms for more nutritional value.

FAQs

  1. Can I use bought ravioli? Yes! Appropriate from this box of cheese ravioli on your grocer!
