This simple sponge candy is fast to make and only takes a few ingredients! Great for entertaining friends and family. Please help me Yes we do a tandem and it´s for kids 🙂 It´s also an amazing weekend task that you can develop with your children. Surely you need to try it and then do it again.
How to Make Easy Sponge Candy
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate (for coating)
- Sprinkle of powdered sugar (desired)
Directions:
- Mix sugar and corn syrup in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir til sugar is completely dissolved
- Stirring will cause the mixture to look murky, so instead bring it up gently to a boil. Cook until the mixture is a very deep golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
- Take the saucepan off the heat and quickly stir in baking soda and vanilla extract (the mixture will bubble up).
- Spread over greased baking sheet and allow to cool completely.
- Once cool, break into pieces.
- Optional: Melt chocolate — I use a 1 ounce bar of unsweetened baker's chocolate for this quantity of macaroons and carefully dip each one in the melted bar. Sprinkle (yes, with your fingers!) lightly powdered sugar over the top dipped ones for what felt like just an additional flourish!
