How to Make Easter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Ingredients 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Various colors of food coloring
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

  1. Instructions Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In another small bowl, mix the flour as well as baking soda and powder; aside.
  3. Beat together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add the egg, vanilla extract and almond extract; mix until blended. Sift and fold in the dry ingredients, bit by bit.
  4. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets. Press with the bottom of a glass, dipped in sugar onto each ball to flatten.
  5. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
  6. For decoration, combine the confectioners’ sugar with water to form a glaze. Put into bowls and mix in food coloring. Ice the cookies with this icing or you can also sprinkle them!
