How to Make Chicken a la King
Ingredients:
- Toss in 2 cups of shredded cooked chicken
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 3/4 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- To serve — boiled rice, cooked pasta and toast or biscuits.
Directions:
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Toss in the onions, bell peppers and mushrooms with some salt until they have removed their moisture about 5 minutes.
- Now add the flour and cook for 1 – 2 minutes.
- Whisk in the chicken broth slowly, and simmer
- Stir in crisped bacon, chicken and peas to combine.
- Then slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring until it is thick.
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Serve chicken a la king over rice, pasta, toast or biscuits.
